On April 18th Mr. O of 123GT entered into a "normal" rally. We both had our doubts whether the classic rally where the winner was decided with a 1/100 sec difference on when the tire went over a line in a parking lot was really fun. Thus, we decide to try what it would be like to enter a normal rally. The rally was in Chiba and went over 170km. The rally was organized by Mr. C who used to organize Japan Alpen Rally in the past. A total of 11 participated in the ALC Mystery Rally. It was a sunday rally so there were various cars - Prius, Vitz, VW Golf, Impressa, a Jimny and to top it off, Jeep Wrangler. We race a time rally with 9 checkpoints. Mr. O and I kept our eyes glued to the time chart and raced against the clock. In addition to the time rally, there was 10 question rally quizz and the family entrants were able to enjoy themselves as well as the rest. I had driven the course in the past when it was still a dirt road, but now the roads were paved but the roads were still a tough challenge for my .122 Amazon. There were a few moments when I knew I had really lost time so I was not expecting a good finish, but at the end of the day, we were called to the podium as the winner. Everyone, including ourselves, were totally shocked. Al in all, it was real run so I would like to continue to enter into "normal" rallies in addition to classic rallies.
