「Giro di Karuizawa」にエントリーを“してしまった”我がAMAZON「・122」チームですが、コ・ドライバーのS大先輩と、「ユニフォームはどーする」という話になっていました。「Giro、、」に出場するような、名だたるスポーツカーや、レースの栄光を身にまとう美しいマシン達には、ちょっと懐かしい旧めのレーシングスーツとか、クラシックなヘルメットにゴーグル、、、が似合いそうですが、なにせ、AMAZONは4ドア、、、。ということで、いろいろ探していたのですが、アメリカ西海岸のWeb通販ショップで、「、、らしい」ジャンパーを見つけました。実は、123GTのOさんと一緒にOさん、Oさんの奥様と私の3人3枚分の同じデザインの綿入り「冬物」ジャンパーは、以前に購入したのですが、今回は、S大先輩と私の「春夏物の薄手」ジャンパーを入手しました。1枚3000円で、とてもリーズナブルでした。ちゃんとVOLVOやCastrol、BBSなどの文字が刺繍されていて、とにかく「、、、らしい」雰囲気です。ただ、よくよく見ると、各々のロゴがオリジナルメーカーのロゴとは色とか文字デザインが、微妙に異なっているのです。ま、この値段ですから、そういうことなのでしょう。それと「VOLVO R SPORT」というのも、「TURBO VOLVO」、「VOLVO RACING」というのも、ちょっと、AMAZONにとっては、おこがましいのですが、ま、それはそれで、雰囲気ですから、、、許していただくとして、、、このジャンパーを着て初のクラシックラリーを楽しもうと思っています。

My .122 has accidentaly made its entry into the Giro di Karuizawa so I discussed with Mr. S who will be my co-driver what kind of uniform we would wear. Most of the entrants are famous old sportscars and the drivers come wearing old racing suits, some with leather helmets and goggles. Alas, the Amazon is a 4door sedan so these will not do. I finally found something that seemed to fit on a web site on the West Coast. Actually, Mr O (123GT) his wife and myself had just purchased a winter jacket, but this race called for a lighter spring jacket. The price was 3,000 yen and reasonable, had Volvo, Castrol and BBS logos - altho they were a bit different from the real ones. Also, "Turbo Volvo" and "Volvo Racing" may be a bit for the Amazon but then again, the important thing is to enjoy the atmosphere.
